Instagram’s live streaming update

Instagram is one of the most popular social networking sites on the market today. The site has gained tons of users. As of September of this year, the site had around 800 million monthly active users. A fun fact, over half of the 18- to 29-year-olds in the United States have an Instagram account. The billion dollar company has had great success over the past few years. More recently, Instagram added an update that had some users excited. In the past few months, there was a feature added in which Instagram users could do what is called a live stream. The feature allowed users to essentially do a real time broadcast, in which they could show themselves in the front camera or show their surroundings in their rear camera. The feature gained popularity. Many people have since gone live and enjoy doing so. Upon going live, all of your Instagram followers can view your broadcast and comment on it or add likes. Recently, Instagram made an update to their live feature. Now, before going live you have the option to add a button for your friends to request to join your live stream. This means, if you add the button and allow someone to join your stream, each of you will broadcast yourselves onto one live stream. Your faces will be split on one screen as others view it. The feature is pretty cool, catching the attention of many users. As of now, only people who are following each other have the option to mutually stream. However, that is a pretty simple problem to fix- just follow each other. However, if you do not want to receive an annoying number of requests to join your stream while doing so, make sure to turn the feature off- although its pretty cool.
